How Pen Placement Generates Cash

In Break and Steal A Chicken Egg, your home pen is the engine of your economy. Breaking eggs and stealing chickens does not immediately grant currency. Instead, cash is generated passively over time by the chickens stationed inside your fenced base enclosure.

Placed Woodland Chicken (1.6K Kg) inside the fenced pen showing a green $2.6K/s passive income rate.
Recorded observation showing the Placed Woodland Chicken (1.6K Kg) confirmation and a $2.6K/s income label above the pen.

In the recorded November 7, 2026 gameplay footage, placing a Woodland Chicken with a displayed weight of 1.6K Kg triggered a green confirmation banner and displayed an income rate of $2.6K/s above the chicken in the pen. Treat this $2.6K/s figure and the 1.6K Kg weight as a recorded gameplay example rather than a fixed universal rate for every Woodland Chicken, as individual chicken weights, rebirth multipliers, or game updates may alter exact payouts.

Turning Stolen Chickens Into Active Income

The official description connects base placement with earning cash. Use the return routine below to complete each trip before moving on to training or shopping.

  1. Before leaving, identify your pen and check that your hotbar can hold the chicken you plan to bring back.
  2. Break an egg and immediately hold the Steal prompt to transfer the chicken into your hotbar.
  3. Choice: Decide whether to grab another nearby chicken or retreat immediately. If a Boss Chicken is closing in, always prioritize retreating with what you already hold.
  4. Return to your fenced pen and place every carried chicken before visiting the Pickaxe Shop, Trail Shop, or Treadmill.
  5. If the next upgrade is expensive, compare its price with your current displayed earnings and consider another manageable chicken run. Higher-tier routes and outcomes have not been exhaustively tested.

Make pen placement part of the return routine. A successful hatch and a completed base placement are separate steps in the reviewed tutorial.

Scaling Your Earnings Through Speed, Pickaxes, and Rebirths

While your pen works automatically once stocked, increasing your total cash per second requires active investment across three connected upgrade systems:

Upgrade SystemVerified FunctionImpact on Base Income
Pickaxe ShopIncreases Pickaxe Power (e.g., 1 Power Wooden to 50 Power Iron)Reduces the time spent breaking eggs so you can steal and pen chickens faster.
Treadmill & Trail ShopIncreases base Speed and applies Speed multipliers (up to x3.5 observed)Lets you reach deeper zones like the Recommended 10K Speed Ice zone and escape Boss Chickens.
Rebirth PanelGrants Cash Boost (+x1.5 Cash observed) and RangeMultiplies the cash your base earns after you rebuild your reset Speed, Treadmill, and Cash.

The Rebirth panel explicitly warns that standard rebirth resets Speed, Treadmill and Cash. The recording does not establish every item or chicken that persists. Read the current panel and record your setup before confirming; avoid spending based on an unverified assumption about what survives.
