Beginner Guide: How to Break Eggs, Steal Chickens, and Start Earning
Step-by-step onboarding guide for Break and Steal A Chicken Egg covering the core loop: breaking eggs, stealing hatched chickens, escaping Boss Chickens, and placing chickens in your pen.
Understanding the Core Gameplay Loop
The official game description sets out a clear cycle: break eggs, steal the hatched chickens, escape Boss Chickens, and place the chickens at your base to earn cash. Recorded tutorial prompts show the first run in that order.
- Equip your pickaxe from the bottom hotbar and break eggs in the field to hatch chickens.
- Use the Hold Steal interaction on the hatched chicken while watching out for Boss Chickens.
- Carry the stolen chicken back to your base and place it inside your fenced pen to generate passive cash per second.
- Spend your earned cash on pickaxes, speed trails, and treadmill upgrades, or rebirth for Cash Boost and Range bonuses.
The developer names Boss Chickens as the hazard you must escape. For your first trip, choose a nearby egg and keep track of the route back to your own pen. Finish one successful placement before planning a longer run.
Step 1: Breaking Your First Egg
The opening tutorial says Break your first egg. Equip the pickaxe from your bottom hotbar, approach the marked egg, and follow the interaction controls shown on your device. An Auto Swing control is visible near the bottom of the reviewed mobile recording; this review did not test desktop controls.

The reviewed opening targets a Common Willow Egg near the start. The shop later labels the Wooden Pickaxe as 1 Power. Start with an egg close to home so you can learn the break, steal and return sequence before extending your route.
Step 2: Stealing the Chicken and Escaping
Breaking an egg does not automatically add its contents to your inventory. Once the shell shatters, a chicken spawns on the ground and the tutorial updates to Steal the chicken. Stand next to the hatched bird and hold the on-screen Steal prompt until the interaction bar finishes filling. Because the verified footage displays mobile touch controls, exact keyboard shortcuts for desktop are not confirmed; simply interact directly with the on-screen Hold Steal prompt.

The carried chicken appears in a bottom hotbar slot. Turn toward home and follow the placement objective. If returning from a distant area is difficult, complete shorter trips and compare the speed options at the Trail Shop and treadmill before trying again.
Step 3: Placing Chickens in Your Pen
After escaping the egg lane, follow the tutorial marker back to your home base. The objective prompt will change to Place the chicken in your pen. Walk up to your fenced enclosure, select the carried chicken from your hotbar if it is not already active, and complete the placement interaction to release it into your base.

In the reviewed run, placement produces a confirmation and a cash-per-second display above the chicken in the pen. Check for those signs after returning. The official description connects base placement with earning cash, so finish this step before spending time on the next upgrade.
Step 4: Early Upgrade Priorities and the Index
Once your first chicken is generating passive cash, follow the remaining tutorial prompts to balance your breaking power and movement speed. Recorded early gameplay demonstrates a clear sequence of affordable starting upgrades around the base area:
- Buy the Common White Trail at the Trail Shop (recorded at 100 cash for a x1.5 Speed multiplier) so you can run faster between your pen and the egg path.
- Train on the base Treadmill to build raw Speed toward the early tutorial goal of 500 Speed.
- Visit the Pickaxe Shop to upgrade from the 1 Power Wooden Pickaxe to the Common Stone Pickaxe (10 Power) or Uncommon Iron Pickaxe (recorded at 800 cash for 50 Power) to break shells significantly faster.
As you capture different varieties of chickens, check the INDEX button located on the left side of the screen. The official game description confirms that collecting chickens in the Index unlocks cool titles. Keep capturing new types as you progress into faster zones to fill out your collection.
